You get the same thing over the phone when you're on the phone, being very direct, and clearly in the lead of whatever is going on. Doesn't matter. They'll start fawning and flirting in that particular way. You know. I know you do.

Conversely, souyhern men are perceived as blithering idiots and slack jawed yokels by outsiders for the same things! It's so weird. They cannot catch a break. They really get talked down to. They're all Jethro. It's also a the cause of a particular resentment southern men have toward southern women. None of our own men ever flirt with us or fawn over us like that. It's always outsiders.
