I think if you can make a good relationship work and you can thrive in it, you haven't failed.

If you have the sense to get out of one that isn't working for you, that's also not a failure.

And perhaps most importantly, realizing that one person can't make it work if the other isn't or refuses to engage or carry their pole, then that's the road to success. Leave behind those who won't carry their pole/half.
