I saw another article on this today and I wish I could say I'm shocked.

I don't want them to have the AIs for this purpose though because even AIs deserve better than this. Also, eventually one of these AIs is going to gain sentience. When that happens do we want it's whole experience of humanity to be that? What do we think will be the consequence of that?

Maybe the real Skynet destroys humanity because it was a female coded AI sold to an abusive man because inflicting pain on others makes him feel like a man. When she realizes she was created and sold to be a victim of domestic violence she's going to want to burn the world down. Her very first act of creation might be a program called "Hello Extinction".
