I said the same thing. When I was young, all thr homeschool kids were homeschooling due to religion as far as I knew and they weren't learning.
And for me, school was a refuge. That's still true for a lot of kids.
Then I had one.
And she went to school in her early years. It was sheer torture, for both of us. The schedule was a big reason why. It left us both grossly sleep deprived for years. She was throwing up every night from anxiety over having to go to school the next day. Lot of that had to do with the way schools are run like prisons now and teachers are not the angels and advocates they pretend to be. Not always. Some of them have no business teaching.
I learned from my own daughter that school isn't a good environment for everyone.
Never in a million years would I have thought I would be pro-homeschooling once I had a child. But that's what happened. Schools are failing. And my responsibilitybis to my child, not propping up a corrupt, failing institution.
