I read that article you referenced. I kinda found it to be a ridiculous stretch.

For me, the attachment of "phobia" to the word. I do think Transfolk are shooting themselves in the foot throwing the word around so casually.

It's not irrational to question or debate, even if those questions or debated are coming from a place of ignorance. That's how we learn. It's cutting your nose off to spite your face to cudgel people as "transphobic" for not understanding trans experience.

She does bring up a great point about finding a way to inclusion, by willing it into existence. She misses the mark by failing to realize that takes time, study, scrutiny, and discussion/debate. If you're unwilling to go through the process of change, it's not the majority side that's being phobic, it's you who is being impatient, demanding, and intolerant (?, maybe sometimes).

At any rate, there were always going to be problems with using what should have remained a medical or scientific term as a political slur. Why should this time be any different than any other time? There are consequences, there always are.
