I miss Robin Williams. I miss Gene Roddenberry too. There's always that pang, when they come up.

As far as families go, I thought about this some between when Grandma died and Urchling was born.

So, I started a new family tradition. Every year on their birthdays, I tell the Urchling something about the Grandparents. When I see looks or mannerisms pop up in Urchling, I'll smile and tell her how they used to do that too. As marks of age land on my body, I'll remark (favorably and with pride) to Urchling about who this ties me to. That last one has other benefits as well.

Keeping the memory of them in your life and sharing that is a pretty good way to handle that grief.
