I had several male high school teachers. My uncle was a freshman biology teacher (retired now).
They were all married. Thinking about it more thoroughly, the only men in the noble but low paying positions you described who were not gay, very young and actively dating, outlived their spouse, or just didn't want to marry were all married. Out of maybe 50ish that I have personally known in my life (teachers, nurses, caregivers) excluding the above, all 50ish were married. And I'm over 50 myself, sonwere talking about a significant time frame. My daughter had a few male teachers too. Married and just graduated and dating.
I am sure some of them were excluded by a few random women who had that viewpoint or obsessive focus on money. It did not prevent them from finding a mate, so no, *women* are not rejecting these men.
