I get the point. But this one isn’t the best example. Tarzan didn’t save the Congo. Tarzan saved Jane. George (Samuel Jackson’s character) saved the Congo. George convinced Tarzan to accept the invitation so he could secure passage and access to investigate. George collected evidence. George confronted the King of Belgium (?) and demanded accountability.

In the end, Tarzan is and always has been the story of a feral child trying to find his place in the world and what it means to be human. When Tarzan goes into savior mode, it’s usually on behalf of the animals, and nature.

Saving the Congo was added in the latest movie iteration as a sub-plot to the main story. I don’t feel it lessens it to be observed from Tarzan’s point of view. And I was glad to see that they didn’t go there with the white savior bit.
