I get and understand your frustration about pay gap and pink tax. As THE bread winner and a single mom for my family, it's more than irksome.
That said, I think he's celebrating the progress, not the difference is now less or less than Trump's administration. Further, averages can be kinda tricky. With 1%, even with 60% women on staff, that's close enough to warrant a detailed analysis of the report before going on a thermonuclear rant. One or two outliers could be affecting the average.
It's a huge step worth notice.
As for the pink tax; just because a business charges women more for a good or service, doesn't mean we women have to pay it. If razors are the same, buy them from the men's section or don't shave. If dry cleaning a woman's blouse costs more than a man's shirt, don't buy clothes that require dry cleaning or do it at home with that Dryell stuff or whatever it is. Obviously, I opted for the first "I resist discrimination" strategy in regards to clothing. I will not pay extra for dry cleaning just because I'm a woman.
