I doubt she meant gender roles. I think she meant more like, for example, if you father a child you're supposed to parent that child. You're supposed to provide for that child. You're supposed to be there for that child.

If you make a marriage vow, you're supposed to be faithful to the person to made the vow to.

That kind of thing.

Obviously, it goes both ways. It's not okay to cheat on your husband if you vowed faithfulness. If you give birth to a child, you're supposed to take responsibility for that child and provide for it as well.

At least, that's what I took from her statement. And she's right. There was nothing off in her statement.
