It’s easy to see why religion and church attendance was so important to women for so long.

It’s a break from the isolation of marriage and child rearing. A chance to socialize with other women. For a very long time, that was the only socialization many women got outside the family.

There’s other things now that don’t also come served up with a side dish of loathing and hostility.
