I don't think he experiences despair. He comes across as quite gleeful to me. There's a whole lot of, "oh, my friends, your world is ending and it didn't have to be. I did try to warn you. I told you so. ππππππππ€£π€£π€£π€£ππ€πππππππ. Want some popcorn? I'll buy him making a killing."
It is bizarre, because he makes a lot of good points and salient observations. Then he catastrophizes the equivalent of taking a small rag, dousing it in napalm and then throwing it into a Eucalyptus forest.
So rude to all those placid koalas.
