I don’t see it as exactly the same issue. I don’t suggest NotForProfit because of distrust of government (in general) either. It depends on the government, tbh.

Finland, for example, does an excellent job on how they handle education. I love that model but I don’t see it being successful here in the States as the country is just too big, there’s that relationship between individual states and the federal govt to attend to, and most people would stomp their feet and howl for a variety of reasons mostly having to do with money, privilege, and religion.

I suggested NotForProfit because, applied mindfully, it removes considerations of value in the first place and that money spent for whatever social service it is, the money goes to that and seeing that those who work in that field are compensated fairly.

As far as competition goes, competition won’t be for profit either, but on whether a model for service is successful or not.

Is that better? I don’t know. Maybe it depends on the service we’re talking about. I admit, I was thinking mostly of education and infrastructure building as that’s whats been on my mind lately.
