Everything I have seen, read, or heard has been measured and hopeful but not claiming 100%.
In fact, they’ve been very careful not to say that.
It’s very different to say, “we’ve had the building blocks and manufacturing equipment for some time that allows us to produce vaccines at a quicker and quicker paces. Everything we know about vaccines in general and the development of this one specifically leads us to believe that it is both safe and effective. There is always some risk but we believe the risk here is negligible and certainly much less than the risk of an adverse reaction to the virus itself. We are closely monitoring. If an issue arises, then we stop vaccinating until we figure it out, but I believe that’s extremely unlikely to be the case. We’ve been concerned about safety throughout it’s development and will, of course, continue to hold safety as a major concern.”
and
“ Absolutely, 100% effective to prevent viral infection with zero percent risk of adverse reaction to the vaccine. So just shut up and take it. We know best. Trust us, blindly.”
The first one is an amalgamation of public messaging from Dr. Fauci since before the vaccines cleared the FDA. He’s been very consistent and pointed in his messaging. He has not deviated. He says the same thing on CNN, MSNBC, FOX, Covid press briefings, industry meetings that were public, local news, NIH documentation, etc.
The second one is what the Right is choosing to hear over what is actually being said.
Or, maybe after years of brain rotting Trump word salad, they just can no longer understand plain english.

I don’t mean to come off as admonishing toward you specifically. I get that you’re just playing devil’s advocate and trying to make a point about trust.
My point is that it’s not logical thinking or a valid position for people to go down this road. Not when they’re real intent is not even based on what they’re arguing about. I agree with Brian Kean, it’s a lame attempt to be vindictive and petty. Nothing more, nothing less.
Giving credence to false arguments just increases the number of people who are going to get lost in the weeds unnecessarily.
