I don’t know about this. I’m not sure it’s the same.

There needs to be some accountability before we can move on. The term 'ostracism' seems a bit harsh here and not an accurate description of what is being proposed. For example, Ted Cruz trained as a lawyer. His removal from office does not prevent him from earning a living doing what he trained to do in the same way the McCarthy era blacklist did. Nor does it ostracize him from daily life. It just prevents him from breaching public trust again. How is that a bad thing?

That said, it is up to the electorate to do that, which means they need to remember and maybe be reminded when it comes time to vote. So keeping track of all Trump supporters did is going to be necessary to help the electorate hold these people accountable at the ballot box. As long as it’s truthful, it’s not untoward.

Trump supporters are public servants, therefore they have a different standard to bear. If one doesn’t want to be held accountable then one should not stand for public office in the first place.

It’s not like this is a blacklist based on a difference of opinion either. They knowingly amplified and used a LIE for political gaming. Many of them actively stoked this lie (Mo Brooks) to the point of insurrection. They knew election fraud was a lie. Mitch McConnell recently admitted it publicly, on the Senate floor. He still pandered to the lie as long as it served him to keep aid out of the hands of Americans struggling during a pandemic. He couldn’t find the courage to tell the truth when it mattered.

How is that not a breach of public trust? They have to be held accountable. Bare minimum, removal from office; in some cases impeachments and criminal charges.

After all, isn’t distrust (though based on a lie) of public officials what led to the riots and insurrection in the first place?

You want another one? Or more riots in the streets across America?

Abuse public trust some more by shirking accountability to line your pockets and protect your power. Watch what happens.
