I disagree with you here. Feminism has allowed women to reinforce standards that were lost due to the disenfranchisement of women from industrialization and the loss of the family farm, especially after WWII.

Go back before then and read the diaries of women from that era. Most women weren’t just cleaning and caring for kids, they were contributing to family income even if they didn’t have control of it. They had value for something other than sex and being decorative. In courting, men and women both considered different things when choosing a life partner.

Looks have always been important as it’s natural to want to be attracted to someone you marry, but they were never the most important until campaign ads to build up the beauty industry.

You’ll also notice that today, one of the things that Incels bitch and moan about is how no woman will look at them if they don’t have a 6 pack and are 6 feet tall. That was never an issue until that was all anyone ever saw on bill boards and magazines. Neither women wanting it (highly questionable how widespread this actually is), or men thinking they have to have that body to even have a chance of attracting a mate.
