I disagree that it couldn't happen. It won't be like what you've written, but all fascist rises include forced labor of the outgroup, the "othered", as part of the genocide against them. This court is part of a Christofascist rise and their commentary in the Dobbs decision makes it clear they will support the othering of anyone who is not a straight white man.

It won't happen all at once, it'll be a series of decisions winding back everyone's rights and enfranchisement. We already have forced labor of prisoners. The obvious way to start down that slippery slope is "home confinement" sentences as a means of establishing debtors prisons. Now if you can't pay your bills, you're a prisoner, subject to the exclusion clause of the 13th Amendment. Add to that the right of corporations to buy terms of Indenture and the requirement for the impoverished to indenture themselves in order to preserve the banks from defaulting under debt and there you go.
