I didn’t think everyone was against me; I didn’t even suggest such a thing so I’m not sure where you got that. That said, the fact that not everyone is an enemy doesn’t make them a friend either, nor does it change the fact that there ARE men who don’t care about women and still others who feel particularly aggrieved when women voice our problems or speak to what has happened in our lives whether it has anything to do with them in particular or not. They call us names like harpy, harridan, bitch, cunt and whatever new and exciting slur is the current flavor or the month. You know it’s true. While these men are no where near the bulk of the male population, they do cluster in certain spaces like any other annoying pestilence. Think of how fruit flies cluster around a piece of fruit. Everyone knows one particular cloud of them is not all the fruit flies in the world. Doesn’t mean those particular ones aren’t a cloud of pestilence or a problem for the fruit (they ruin it), any other living thing in the vicinity (they spread disease), and they tend to bring others of their ilk with them so the cloud grows and becomes a bigger problem.

They always have to go out of their way to let us know things like progress has made such behavior almost non-existent and how it’s just a matter of time till the last neanderthals come to their senses or bite the dust. That may or may not be true, it probably isn’t, but even if it were, it’s not like that overall trend magically erases the constant barrage of gender slurs, gaslighting, or unnecessary and erroneous corrections from the clouds surrounding individual women or women’s spaces, does it?

For some reason these men get so wrapped up in explaining population dynamics they ignore how cluster effects within a population can cause disproportionate problems compared to the population at large; which should have been obvious if one had paid attention to the through line of the conversation they were cutting in on in the first place.

Men are funnily obtuse. They just stumble around with blinders on.

Anyway, maybe instead of pointing out that the fruit flies buzzing around me aren’t representative of all the fruit flies in the world while coincidentally buzzing around in the same cloud you could be dear, actually help the situation, and ship me a can of RAID.

Or shut up and stay out of what doesn’t concern you.
