Sex is the physical act of copulation. One could say that sex is the goal.

How one chooses to achieve the goal, or the path they take to get there, can vary. One such variance is predatory dating. That's a conscious choice, as is choosing to chase after one goal (sex) over another goal (to marry and have a family, for example).

I did not think those terms required detailed investment as they are both common terms in very common use and the Google dictionary will clearly lay them out for anyone who is confused and I did not use them incorrectly in my comment.
