I did read what you wrote Buttercup. You misrepresented her article. You missed the point entirely. You still are.
Thanos was right....about wanting to address climate change and about "people" (because in the MCU it’s a universal problem amongst all life forms) are unwilling or unable to cap their own growth.
She never said his choice of solution was morally sound, was not devastating in it’s own way, or was more than a temporary solution. She said she had sympathy for him and the despair he felt from surviving his own planetary collapse to get to the point that he was willing to halve all populations across the universe.
Ultimately, people have to change. They have to accept that there are limits to growth and limit their growth. Otherwise, face the consequences of a population crash when you exceed carrying capacity.
You’re supposed to think. Not grab a torch or thump your Bible and try to get a mob together to go burn the witch like Cotton Mather. Get a grip dude.
And yes. I say it’s not murder. It’s a fucking Marvel movie, my man. You’d have to be a blithering idiot NOT to know going in that these people aren’t really gone for good. They’re coming back. There were no bodies. They just disappeared by some magic means. We don’t know if they’re dead or not. We know they’re no longer home.
We can’t logically conclude they’ve been murdered. We know he said they’d been erased. But we also know Thanos has lied before.
We’re meant to be left in limbo on that. Not like, say a movie about the Holocaust where we fall in love with a Jewish family knowing they’re going to end up dead, under horrible circumstances. Or, a zombie movie like WWZ or I Am Legend, where we know most of the world population isn’t ever coming back from being zombified.
That’s what makes the movie safe for a thought exercise.
No need to make false accusations just because you’re afraid to think. Calm down. Just go about your day. It’s all good. Nothing to see here. Torches and pitchforks not required.
