I believe so. When they put an armed guard in my kid's school, we moved. When they locked up that school but then didn't respond appropriately to an actual threat, we switched schools. That school got an armed guard, so I gave up trying find a decent school and signed my daughter up for K-12 online school in 7th grade. It was a good decision. I believe she's been much better off overall.

I can tell you a lot of parents are frustrated and have been for years. It's not just because of this shooting. I can tell you they ask homeschooling parents about it a lot. And I can tell you the biggest deterrents to making the switch are worries about socialization, homeschooling's unfortunate association with religious extremists, and concerns about time, money, or their career (that it will interfere with their job).

Thing is, if more parents opted out then a lot of those concerns would evaporate because there would be more opportunities to form learning pods and share resources.
