I believe I have had read that verse. Somewhere deep in one of the Phillips', wasn't it? With a corroborating Old Testament passage back in Malachi, right?
And you know, it just makes sense. Nobody comes to God when things are going good or well for them, so how can we test the faith of our children without cracking them over the head once a while? Fear is the key to salvation. Everyone knows this. If they're not living in constant fear of us, their parents, how can their faith in the Heavenly Father grow?
Answer. It can't. We're doing them a favor. Plus, it relieves some of the built up pressure we have from following this religion. That's a win win.
So even if the Bible doesn't exactly, technically, precisely say that.... we can just pop your wonderful suggestion up the pipestream with a suitable donation and my suggestion for placement and have it added in the next version.
This will give us proof of our moral superiority; a foolproof evidentiary fact to Bible thump those Goddamned liberals with.
They're the worst. The absolute worst. Why do they have to read so much. All it does is create a lot of unnecessary work. I could have used that money on new shoes for all these young 'uns. Junior's down to 4 toes.
But Noooooooooo!!!!
Fucking liberals.
