I agree except that Medium is not a publication. It is a platform. It's virtually impossible for a platform to do what a publication should.
The second part of your comment I absolutely agree with, and that's already happening. Plenty of people rebutted the article in the commentary, you and I being two. The Maverick Files has written an excellent rebuttal argument and I'm writing one as well I hope to publish tonight. Another reader asked why I discounted the article as a feminist work so I'll be addressing the rebuttal through that lens. I'm sure there are already and will be others.
