I actually didn't read the original article, so I'm going off the snippets that were provided here.
Scratching away the humor aspect, which I can't judge because it was just snippets...
It wasn't just the limitations of what he was saying, it was the deliberate renarrative of what was said and the odd specificity that suggests a desire to control.
By that I mean the camping vs the watching reality TV. Andthrn the no kids.
Right?
So no women who like to go do things that he doesn't like to do because he wouldn't want to do them with her. But things that keep her under his watchful eye are okay, although he'll be in other room also not doing them with her because he's too good for that and his time is too precious to be wasted on things he doesn't like to do. Sounds like he wants her to invest her time and attention in him, but he's not willing to match that investment, right?
And then, addendum: also no kids, aka, younger...which means power imbalance and someone who's more likely to be easily manipulated and/or controlled.
Whether he's joking or not, the guy's painting a picture of himself that anyone should rightly be wary of.
The fine print on this deal is highly questionable and arguably unethical. If we were talking about a car or a house, I'd walk and chalk this guy up as a creepy or seedy used car salesman like Bill Paxton's character in True Lies.
It's immaterial to me whether or not he finds that way of talking about and navigating relationships humorous.
What is material is it's not something one should be proud about, or think should be lucrative on the dating market; it's also something I and many other DO NOT want.
