Homeschooling, like public education or private education can be great or it can be bad. It all depends on the people handling the education, their beliefs, their dedication, their investment.

You get propaganda and abuse in public and private schools too. Ask anybody who's been through and survived an inner city school.

I'm sorry you had one of the bad experiences with home schooling. I hope you know you deserved better. I'm confident you're doing everything in your power to make it a better one for your kids.
