Hmmm. No.

He was trying to be humorous but misfired.

Just because Elon Musk or any of the other ultra wealthy can find some women happy to be a bauble on his arm for money does not mean that all women want to be a bauble or should ever be referred to that way. Those women are very few in number.

Nor does it mean it's okay for Musk et al to think of, treat, or refer to women as a whole as a commodity.

Not cool.

I get that he was trying to go for some levity or snark or whatever you want to call it. It was mean spirited and uncalled for.

He didn't want to come off as bashing Elon Musk and trigger a bunch of diatribes by fanbois in the commentary so he made a disparaging remark about women to prove to the guys that he's still on of you.

It doesn't matter if the relationship were consensual or not. It wasn't about the relationships. What matters is that he weaponized humor to disparage women.
