If only there were some sort of historical reference here in America of where policies of impoverishment and disenfranchisement led to some sort of apartheid or, I don’t know. Maybe here in America we wouldn’t call it that, it’s so Afrikan after all. Maybe we’d call it something like segregation and give it a handy little slogan to make it sound nice, like "separate but equal". If only, there were some sort of record or pattern, we’d have a clear view of where such policies and thinking lead. But, I guess it’s anyone’s guess.
Maybe half a century is too far back to be relevant today. The world moves fast after all. I get it. You’re probably right. That’s a done deal. Nothing to see here.
If only there were a more recent example with which we could see some consequences of MAGA policies. I mean, America would never build detainment camps for it’s citizens or people seeking refuge. It’s just not done. All the reports of children being separated from their parents is just a bunch of liberal hysteria. And just because the UN has defined such a measure as genocide doesn’t mean we should ever let such a word taint us. What do they know? Genocide is something Nazis do. Or Rwandans. Everyone knows this. MAGA aren’t Nazis. That 'G' does stand for 'GREAT’, after all.
There would never be another bounty law on the books that will pit neighbor against neighbor, all in an effort to control women’s bodies. It’s not like that law won’t lead to female deaths either (depriving them of their Constitutional right of life) because some women need abortions to save their lives. But as you say, our illustrious MAGA leaders have decided that "a woman’s body has a way of shutting that shit down". We should defer to that sound judgement.
I mean, I’m a woman and I’ve been pregnant and given birth before. Personally I did not feel in control of my body at all during that time. More like I was just along for the ride. Nobody ever told me I had those super powers. I wish I could be like other girls. If only I had known.
