Hmm. Penguin, some of your frosty collective, particularly some of the ones you have stated a particular fondness for, have a bad habit of arguing based on false equivalencies.
Kind of bad form for folks to argue for polite discourse in the interest of conversation and then show up for that debate with nothing but bad faith arguments like conflation and false equivalencies.
Might want to check you article and think about that. Maybe on the way to work, while you're walking. You came out of the gate on that one conflating the simplistic 'smash the Patriarchy' rallying cry of media feminists as a critique of her broader catalogue of work. She's an academic feminist, not a media darling. She's also never been reductive in her speaking of the complexity of our Patriarchal dominamce hierarchy. I've read everything both you and she has written for 3 years or more faithfully, cause I'm not a fickle fan. I love both of you for different reasons. I've never seen a reductive handling of Patriarchy in any of Elle Beau's articles.
There's some simplification in comments, but those are comments, not content. We all do that. By their nature, they are more off the cuff, first thoughts, stream of consciousness a lot of times, etc. And we all do that. They're comments.
Of course she clapped back on that. Of course. It wasn't a 'friendly' conversation. It was a choice to be deliberately obtuse for the entertainment of arguing and maligning everything someone has ever said and stood for in the process.
Is that not also a power play?
