Hawaii and Idaho don’t have near the same population.

California has something like 40 million citizens. It’s more populous than many European nations.

You want to look at per capita rather data than raw numbers for a fair comparison on how states are doing when compared to each other.

When you do that, you find that most states with good, strong gun regulations have less deaths. So, gun regulations work.
