I recall saying that this narrative spinning he does projects his own self loathing onto women as an act of misogyny, or irrational hate of women.

You don't have to "sound hateful" in order espouse or propogate hateful beliefs. Misogyny can be very lucrative. It's also clear, he's trying to up his income from it.
