Lots of women do not become mothers, either by choice or circumstance. Few of them live their lives in frustration. Frankly far more mothers per Capita live lives of desperation than women who are not mothers. For various reasons.

I can't believe your main criticism of Barbie is the nonsense argument that she's not a mother, like you think we're all stupid or something and know less about the dolls many of us played with than you do. Good grief.

First off, it's categorically untrue. Barbie had a married pregnant friend doll named Midge for a few years that got discontinued because these dolls are for LITTLE girls and it was deemed inappropriate. Parents didn't want to have to explain the birds and the bees to that degree to their 3 year old so they wouldn't buy dolls that inspired those questions.

Secondly, the whole point of Barbie was to uncenter a girl's life, through play, from motherhood.

We're more than mothers dude. Always have been. That was the point of Barbie's creation.
