Good response. Though, with respect, the founders recognized and cherished community. The preamble shows this; so they didn't really value the individual over the community they were just concerned about balance. Given the era, this is understandable. They left England and colonized America with the understanding that they would remain British citizens. Instead, they were demoted to British subjects without the full rights of redress against the government that citizens had. Hence, the Constitution reflects that but the founders believed the individual is nothing without the community. Their letters and broader writings show this.
