Good article Bill, well written. Reading through the comments, looks like you’re getting a little further roasted. I was unaware of any of this drama.
I’ve never heard of RLM either and I’m a Gen Xer (show designed to appeal to Gen X?), but they sound similar to some YouTube vids I’ve wandered into that made me want to gouge my eyeballs out with a pickle fork.
I’m a little intrigued that most of the comments are encouraging you and therefore anyone else who read this to just go watch their video and the whole thing will be made clear. 🤔Umm. The one that is monetized?
Lol. That’s rich.
Yeah, I don’t think so. As it happens, my eyeballs are lovely enough already and do not require an induced application of a pickle fork, no matter how tempting.
I’m not sure why I felt the need to tell you I won’t be watching their Vid, other than that you writing an article pointing out how this online behavior is being monetized and how it works leads to so many responses basically saying, “make sure you get these folks paid more — go watch their video”.
So now you’re more entangled in the web of these social manipulators. Must be frustrating, and any strategies dealing with them just becomes an arms race of sorts. At least until people become more attuned to their choice of input and decide to be better. Until then, there will always be those looking to make money off of human lemmings. Social media, for all it’s wonders, is also turning out to be one of the worst things we’ve done to ourselves. *Sigh*. I truly hope people learn to make better choices, and soon.
Give the horses a carrot for me.
