For the most part I agree with you. I’m not particularly surprised by the jury’s decision but I am disappointed. They should have been sequestered and the trial shouldn’t have been aired. What a shit show! Psychologically speaking about the mob, it really is/was reminiscent of medieval public executions. Both times. What the hell is wrong with us?
As far as #BelieveAllWomen goes, that got misrepresented and hijacked in much the same way as #DefundThePolice and #BlackLivesMatter did. Jesus, Twitter is just the worst.
Believe all women was not meant to be a verdict of guilt. It was meant to counteract victim blaming. As far as that goes, it was directed at first responders, authority figures, and society at large more than the accused.
#BelieveAllWomen was and still is necessary because when women report, they are routinely disbelieved and not aided. If you tell a police officer you were mugged, the first thing that officer does is ask if you’re injured and if you’re ok. Then he/she takes a report, asking only necessary questions. He/she doesn’t ask what you were wearing, why you were there alone, were you drinking, etc. You never have to defend your right to not be mugged or be the victim of any other crime.
Why should anyone have to defend their right to not be abused?
Yet we keep landing exactly there, time and time again. Why do we as a society condone abuse and treat each other as disposable.
Another thing to consider is that if we get rid of #BelieveAllWomen then by extension no male victim should or will ever be believed either. All the push to recognize that men can br victims of domestic violence too will have nothing to stand on because we will have decided that no victim is ever credible.
And that’s the good option.
The worst case scenario option is that we believe men but don’t believe women. Men start suing women left, right, and sideways. Women start getting thrown in jail willynilly over false accusations (it’s proven that men lie more than women), children are effectively orphaned (not like these men are going to take care of them), there is no check on violence at all becuse (broad strokes) the wrong people are being prosecuted and punished (also not debatable that women and children are disproportionately victims), and it’s practically open season on women. (At least here in the States). Large scale Femicide.
I too, worry about an eventual end of suicide, but for both of them. Amber has her infant daughter, so that may help her. I suspect Depp’s sobriety, if he’s even really sober, won’t last. And I also hope the next young woman (it WILL be a young woman) he dates doesn’t end up dead (those damned texts!).

You’re the third British person I’ve seen correctly use the word y’all in a sentence this morning. I am so proud of you lot. Well done!
If you get the chance, would you mind helping us Southerners sort out our Northern neighbors? They’re still having kittens about “y’all". It’s completely baffling, of course, because "y’all" is roughly equivalent to "youse" or "you uns". They’re clearly familiar with the concept of universal you.
Now that the trial is over, what are you going to do with all of your time while on a creative hiatus?
