First off, why does outrage have to be productive? Why do assume my goal in life and writing is to move hearts and minds?
Again, the problem with 'local level' is that no one is showing up at the local level to counter Fuentes. The local level is generally a-ok with Fuentes. You and Penguin ARE the local level and your course of action is to ignore him because he's not an issue. To you.
The local level counter to Fuentes wouls be dads and mentors to young men, Christians since Fuentes is a Christian Nationalists. Remind us all again, where are all the dads? Wait, isn't Fuentes the darling of Christian propaganda? And aren't all the local level mentors for young men all peddling toxic positivity and hustle culture right now?
OK. So a local level solution isn't happening and isn't feasible. Next.
Anger and outrage are not interchangeable words. I'm angry at this take for very clear and obvious reasons. I'm not outraged. Nor is my anger performative. I don't believe any other feminists anger about Fuentes is performative either.
Just because he and the racket behind him don't anger you and Penguin doesn't mean everyone else who IS upset ny it is putting on, or performing. You both undermine a legitimate redress by making that claim.
But then, being where you are, you've got a lot less to worry about being stripped of your right to personhood. A lot less to angered about in regards to Fuentes. You can both afford to be unconcerned because of that distance.
