Fair enough and that’s true somewhat.

I don’t have a problem with people dating overseas per se.

I’m an American and I’ve dated men from other countries. They’ve been some of the best dates I’ve ever had. Particularly the Scandinavian and the Argentinian.

I’ve also dated a lot of American men. I’m 51, so believe me when I say that in all 35 of my dating years there has been this undercurrent of resentment toward women coming from American men. It’s increased alongside neoliberalism. As their economic fortunes have eroded, they’re increasingly taking it out on us women because socially, women are thriving and doin better than they ever have.

A lot of these guys who want a foreign bride aren’t ready to be a husband. They’re just not. They’re bitter and they’re angry and they won’t do anything to help themselves.

That’s not saying women are angels or a picnic either. We’ve got our own struggles and it’s clear there’s just as much unfettered rage coming from a lot of women.

I’m just saying that as an international woman, buying into this narrative that American feminism has made women be wife beaters and the poor men are hurting could get you hurt or even killed.

As always, be very careful in whom you put your trust and be suspicious of anything, like this article, that comes off like propaganda. It probably is.

But if you fall in love with someone from another country, they’re legit and you’re legit, and want to make a go of it, I wish you the best and my hearty congratulations.
