Fact check: They are separate corridors and have been recognized as such for decades. Tornado alley refers to the Midwest, tornados are much more frequent and tend to hit in the late afternoon. Dixie alley refers to the southeast, tornados tend to hit late at night but are less frequent.

I used to live in Dixie Alley. It's been called that at least as long as my memory goes back and I'm in my 50s.
