Evangelicals have become just as bad with the guilt and shame aspect of teaching children about God.

They've raised an entire generation vulnerable to sexual abuse and predation or abusers themselves. Now the scandals are piling up.

I've always said there was too much focus on the divinity and blood salvation of Christ to the exclusion of Jesus the man.

It was Jesus the man who changed the world. How he saw the world, how he saw people, his teachings and utter contempt for the church of the time, which was just as bad as the ones today. Nothing's changed.

The number of Exvangelicals and Ex-Catholics is growing. Recovery, taking a lifetime.

I have to ask, after this .... why aren't there more leaving? People should be leaving the church in droves. If you (plural) don't, you condone and support genocide and the widespread abuse of children. You're giving permission for it to continue happening around the world and providing resources for it with your tithes and your time. You're complicit. If you're the person of faith you claim to be, you simply shouldn't be able to abide it and shrug it off.

We can all respond to this tragedy and support our Indigenous brothers and sisters by that one act. Not giving the Pope the option of accountability or not. Best way to start reconciliation is to tell the Church in no uncertain terms, "you do right, or we walk."

Starting with Justin Trudeau. People will follow his example, he's the Prime Minister.

Threaten their money and their status and they'll sing a different tune.
