Doing laundry and dishes is not fulfilling. They do it because it must be done. They do it because they've been socialized to. They do it because generally, in the moment, it's easier than getting a man who has been socialized that he's too good for women's work or that doing it will lessen him as a man to pitch in.
Long term though, it's toxic, leads to resentment, and other negative outcomes like health problems from lack of appropriate rest and stress.
As to whether or not it's oppression... It becomes that because there's an exploitative dynamic to it, but that's too involved for a quick and easy answer. That's a whole article.
