Did you see Arrival with Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker?

You know, Urchling and I have more or less had this discussion before, many times.

She speculated at age 12ish that "TV and radio waves" give aliens "cancer" outside their own atmosphere and they won't come near us because we're polluting near space with life threatening "carcinogens".

Later, she speculated around 14ish aliens avoid us because they don't want to play football. Either one. We can see here, she's narrowing in on some profoundness.

At 16ish, she speculated that Aliens must have somethinf better to do with their time and their lives than spend generations travelling here, well outside their own solar systems when they very well might have more than enough friends, enemies, and frenemies in their own solar system. Also, all those signals do is prove we won't be very good friends anyway. Mmn hmm. My child. All day long.

Late last year sometime, apropos of the Stargate episode that mentions the Fermi paradox, Urchling pipes up and says, "why are we assuming they evolved bodies that allow them to build technology? Or that they aren't more interested in art and cumturl or spiritual advancements? Or that their planet has an energy source that will fuel that technological advancement? Or that an alien species would even want or choose to squander a finite resource on pie in the sky that doesn't benefit everyone and will not see a return on investment anywhere near the future for them? It's not like they're making more finite resources here, right? Oof. She's almost there.

I really can't wait till the next Urchling Fermi debunking Proclamation.

Wonder how long it'll take her to picknapsrt dark forest theory if she ever fets interested in ecology? 3 years, maybe?
