Devolution doesnt have anything to do with something being perceived as positive or negative.

Devolution has to do with a reduction in complexity of an organism.

Devolution, like evolution, takes time and can only truly be determined through the rear view mirror.

I object to your use of this word. You clearly do not know what it means to devolve.

Political statements are just that. Political statements. They exist in a moment, not in an evolutionary or revolutionary time frame. They're a snapshot. A blip on the radar in terms of epoch and period level time frames.

Secondly, as far as political statements go, they're all personal choice, so I'm unclear why you're getting yourself twisted around your own axle here. Of course it's personal. No one is being forced.

Let me remind you, that when Iceland's women tapped out, they got unity and equality. There have been many times in life and especially politics when something "negative" has brought about unity, change, progress, and a more equitable society. The fact is, sometimes you need to see that negative alternative to make the smart, rational choice.

I don't want my daughter to the sacrifice just some young man somewhere, who's done nothing but sit on his laurels his whole life can feel like a man because he has a woman to bully and dominate.

Is that what you want for your daughter?

Is that what you want as normalized behavior for your son?

Might want to think about that before you fall into hysterics about devolution.

What you're seeing is evolution, in action. There's been a significant increase in sexual pressure, sexual aggression, and sexual violence towards women. Politically, it's been ignored. If women can't live alongside men in peace, without constant threat, and equitably then there are only a few options going forward. Things like 4b are the nonviolent options.
