Depends upon how you define financially successful.
If you mean manage their money well, then I'd say they all were. That would apply to the hairdressers and baristas male celebrities have married too.
If you mean in an occupation that makes a lot of money, then I don't know. It would be interesting to look at.
I do know that nonfamous women are more likely to quit working when they marry a celebrity than the other way around, either in service to his career. There's a lot of in the background things that go with being an actor or a sports star and those careers may not last so it's wise to prepare for after early on. Also, if you want a bigger family, marrying a celebrity can get you that (a lot of them have 4 or 5 kids) but they'll be gone for large chunks of time. So, practicalities dictate you scale back work with more children.
I think k that's part of the bias people see here too. You're not NOT working, you're just not getting paid. People forget how successful you were before and think you a mooch. Part of the motherhood penalty.
Christine Baumgartner is a good example of that. She quit work as a model and designer/ entrepreneur where she had been and was becoming more successful to marry Kevin Costner and now they're divorcing and people are on the internet acting like she was a mooch who never did anything for wanting competition for that lost career and lost earnings she gave up to have 4 kids with him. There's more to it than that, a prenup, but it's also clear he's the one being the mooch.
