Depends on who's declaring it I guess. In this case with the Skillet member, it's most likely repeated rhetoric. There's not a whole lot of thought there. He's a performer, pleasing people is how he makes his living.
But, he didn't think this up on his own. Within the Evangelical ranks there are some who want their version of jihad. They talk of war a lot too. The rhetoric had been trending toward more extremist, more vitriolic, and more threatening (a well known pastor preached from the pulpit recently that women who seek to lead should be hung).
That's messed up.
