Depends on what you mean by strong independent woman.

For some a TradWife arrangement is envisioned like being a 19th century pioneer or farm wife where you're still strong (because you're still doing your share of hard labor on a farm or willing to live in primitive conditions) and independent (because you don't need constant supervision and direction to get things done. You can do your share without a husband overseer). Strong and independent. Financially dependent and willingly letting a man support you so you can focus on other things.

For others TradWife is envisioned as modernizing as much as one can the life of elite women during two main time periods. Seems they want the 50s aesthetic with being seen by men as fainting delicate femmes waiting to be ravaged by a big strong man on the back of a Harrlequin romance book. It's about being a precious rose carved out of a precious gem; playing pretty princess. So desired that men will put you up on a pedastel because you are just that haut. 🙄 It's kinda sick and twisted. You're playing a part, the part of a siren to lure men into taking care of you because you're too lazy an indolant to go after anything on your own.

So, it's not that they want to have their cake and eat it too...it's that they're willing to use the illusion of helplessness because men find it attractive and keep falling for it in order to run a game on dumb ass men.
