I was startled to realize I do enjoy getting gifts because I've ALWAYS hated getting them, which boils down to feeling unseen and unwanted by the gifts I'm given.

Then some people came along who actually loved and accepted me for who I am. Their gifts really reflected that, and I reaponded to it beyond what I thought I was capable of. Shocked the hell out of me.
