But again, the problem with Republican women is that they think it won’t apply to them. They’ll be spared. Serena Joy thought that too, that she would still get to make decisions.
The other problem is it’s never a decision made freely and without duress. If it was, you wouldn’t need laws to enforce it. People would do it because it’s what’s best for them. In the case of desert climates, I can see the benefit of wearing a head covering. It protects your hair from having to be washed as frequently, saving water. It also protects from your hair from drying out as quickly in the hot, dry, desert winds.
Your other choice, obviously, is to cut your hair and wear it short.
Those are choices based on practicality, not religious dogma. People don’t need to be forced into them, they’ll naturally do what works for them.
Republican women want other women to be be stripped of choice and forced into certain behaviors under whatever duress is necessary. They’re even willing for some of their own ranks to die to have their way. Their arguments around abortion prove this. There are starting to be women saying women shouldn’t have the right to vote as well. But they vote every election.
Truly, these women are the enemy within. They’re a rising problem.
