Because we were at our loneliest when we were married, and there's consequences to talking about that loneliness when you're married. Presumably, if you're still married it's because you're still trying to make thr marriage work. Airing one's grievance and pain in a marriage goes over about as well as airing ones dirty laundry.

That's why those discussions were more intimate and happened in the home and with close friends.

There's no point in talking about it once you're done. There's just moving on. By that point, you're talked out anyway. You don't want that to continue being your life.

What you want is to reclaim your joy, the joy you had before the emotional leech sucked the life right out of you.

And that's why. That's why you see so many articles about happiness in singledom and next to none about loneliness, even reflectively on the past.
