Baby boomers weren't the only ones who created it. They did their fair share but those who came before and those who came after, including GenX and Millennials have contributed as well. Hell, even Zoomers will do their fair share over time.
It's easy to blame boomers because of Reagan. Nobody wanted to face the energy crisis. Reagan was an easy out.
But what's changed?
The WMD lie was an easy out and people took it because they didn't want to face a lot of things, like that our government has destroyed nations. Like our complacence about terrorism on the world stage brought it to our back door. Like climate change, which was happening even then, would drive crisis in certain parts of the world first. And so forth and so on. But we didn't want to hear it. We wanted quick and easy answers and to avoid the work. Now we've wasted trillions on pointless wars that could have been used to prepare us for what's coming.
Trump was an easy out too. I won't get into that. Just look where we are. Look at the opportunities to make the future downgrade any easier or mitigate the effects of climate change have been lost. Forever.
Millennials have already squandered some opportunities too. Zoomers will as well. So will those that follow. So long as people choose the easy, feel good dopamine answers or sticking their heads in the sand over rational realism, deep thought, and hard work.
This is a human problem, not a generational one.
