I was referring to addressing their narcissism as their child. If you can’t change someone as a romantic partner, you sure as hell can’t as their child.

Breaking the cycle is different. It requires distance, and not letting those dynamics influence how you raise your own kids.

I think for me, waiting till I was in my mid 30s to have a child and doing so on terms that ensured I would.be the best parent I could be was probably the smartest thing I could have ever done.
