It's an inappropriate question in the way he took it. Assuming she meant it that way, presented it that way, and that was her entire intent, then she deserves some ire too. But I wasn't there. I can't judge her purpose for myself, read her mind, know her intent or make any kind of meaningful evaluation for myself. I've only got his version of events to go off of and his take of the whole situation.
Which was a passive aggressive mantrum of testerics. In other words, to use a more psychologically clinical term our dude should appreciate, his take was more than a bit neurotic.
